June 23, 1943 — December 1, 2020

William Joseph “Bill” Nowak, age 77, of Grand Rapids, formerly of Allen Park, passed away on Tuesday, December 1, 2020. He was born on June 23, 1943 in Trenton, Michigan a son of Peter Joseph and Mabel Rose (Goodwin ) Nowak, both of whom preceded him in death. He graduated from Allen Park High School with the Class of 1961. Following high school he proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Following his military tour and travels, he came back to the States and began working and started his family. He married Judy Kay Teeple on Sweetest Day, October 20, 1984, and she survives. He worked in several capacities during his lifetime, retiring from Tyco/Unistrut Corporation as a Project Supply and Cost Engineer. Bill enjoyed camping up north in Presque Isle with family and friends, always willing to man the grill and host the campfire. For the last twenty years he has also looked forward to wintering in Florida with Judy and loved planning activities and the dining-out schedule when people came to visit. Whether home or away, his favorite things were family, friends and fishing. Bill will be remembered by all who knew him for his kind, helpful and generous nature.
When he passed away, Bill was at home in Grand Rapids, Michigan, under the care of hospice and surrounded by his loving family which included his dear wife, Judy, his sister, Florence Thompson of Trenton, his daughters, Jennifer (Gerry) Padgett of Allen Park, and Diana (Mike) Verdun of Belding. Several of his grandchildren including Bethany, Allison, Grace and Jack were also by his side.
Bill touched the lives of many other family members including Steve Williams, Toni Lesatz, Doug Nowak and Amy Crown and so many special friends who all probably have a great fishing story to hold in their memories
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two siblings, Thomas Nowak and Nancy McMahan, a niece, Nikki Dooner and a stepson, Greg Williams and a niece, Lenni McMahan.
