William E. “Bill” Hammond, age 79, of Belding, Michigan, passed away at home, surrounded by his loving family under hospice care on Thursday, January 19, 2023. William was born on March 16, 1943, in Pontiac, Michigan, son of Lewis W. And Barbara R. (Mulford) Hammond, both of whom preceded him in death. A life-long learner, he returned to school in his fifties and completed coursework at both Montcalm Community College and Dale Carnegie. Bill married Janet E. MacLeod on November 29, 1963, and she preceded him in death in 2006. He was lucky enough to find another true love, and married Judy E. Lahr on August 18, 2007, at the Lighthouse on Long Lake, and she survives. Bill was a Golden Glove Club Boxer in high school and later became an avid golfer, playing in leagues for many years. He was a diehard Michigan fan, was meticulous about his lawn, loved good conversations and debates and was always willing to offer sage advice to family and friends, including one of his favorites, “Give a little, Spend a little, Save a little”. Bill was a man of faith and was a long-time member of Shiloh Community Church.
