Sandra K. Pillera

Sandra Kay Pillera, age 76, of Belding, passed away at Mission of Belding Nursing Home, during a convalescing stay following heart surgery.  She was born on August 19, 1947, in Grand Rapids, Michigan, the daughter of Theodore and Bertha Louise (Baker) Pillera, both of whom preceded her in death. Sandra graduated from Belding Area Schools and continued her education at Montcalm Community College. She transferred to Michigan State University where she completed a bachelor’s degree and later earned a master’s degree from Central Michigan University.  She worked for many years with the Department of Labor, Compliance Division in both the Chicago and Grand Rapids offices. She retired to back Belding to be near her friends and the familiar surroundings of home. She enjoyed social time with friends on a daily basis and was a regular participant in one of the morning coffee gathering places around town, which provided her the latest news and current events. She had a colorful personality and will be missed by many.     

 Sandra leaves family and friends to mourn her loss, including, her brother, Theodore J. “Ted” (and Joan) Pillera of Minnesota, her nieces and nephews, Phil (and Laura) Pillera, Ryan (and Caitie) Pillera, Spencer (and Leah) Pillera, Weston Pillera and Vanessa Pillera; her great nieces and nephews; and many cousins and friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her step-father, Marion Galloway.  

 A Graveside Service will take place at 2:00 p.m., on Monday, February 5, 2024, at Smyrna Cemetery, 5110 Whitesbridge Road, Belding, Michigan 48809, with a luncheon following at the funeral home.  Pastor Mike Simmons will officiate.  Those wishing to express their sympathy through a memorial donation in Sandra’s memory are welcome to consider The Alvah N.
