Richard D. “Dick” Thatcher, age 89, passed away peacefully on March 8, 2026.
Dick was born on August 6, 1936, at home in Fenton, Michigan, to Vernon D. Thatcher and Edith M. Thatcher. In 1950, he moved with his family to Coral, Michigan, where he lived until entering the United States Air Force in 1955. He proudly served his country as an Airman Third Class Mechanic until his honorable discharge in 1958. In 1959, Dick met and married the love of his life, Sonja. Together they made their home in Modesto, California, where they raised their three sons. Dick enjoyed spending his free time boating, fishing, and watching sports. He valued time with family and friends and was known for his steady presence and kind nature. After the passing of his beloved wife, Dick returned to Michigan to live with his sister in Coral, where she lovingly cared for him until his peaceful passing.
