Reynaldo “Ray” Castillo, age 72, of Greenville, passed away peacefully at home under hospice care, surrounded by his loving family on Monday, January 5, 2026. He was born on April 2, 1953, son of Carlos B. and Reyna (Garza) Castillo, both of whom preceded him in death. Following high school, he completed coursework at a junior college in corrections and worked in several capacities during his lifetime. In his younger years, he owned and operated a tree trimming and removal service. Eventually he opted for positions closer to the ground when he went to work for manufacturing companies including Spectrum Industries and Extruded Metals Corporation. He also bought, renovated and resold homes as a side business. Always motivated to keep busy, he did yard work as a side business as well as other repair and maintenance jobs. He was proud of remaining independent even as his health declined at the end of his life.
Ray his family to mourn his passing including his sons, Samson (Angel) Castillo and Robert Castillo; and grandchildren, Caden Castillo and Jasmine (Josh) George, all of Belding; his dear sister, Irene Vargas of Belding; and several nieces, nephews and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 4 brothers and 3 sisters.
A Memorial Service celebrating Ray’s life will take place at Jesus Non-Denominational Church, 9206 Peck Road, Greenville, Michigan 48838, at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 17, 2026, with Pastor Tommy Turner officiating. Ray’s family will greet visitors at the church for an hour prior to the service beginning at 12 Noon. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are suggested to the direction of the family.
