Myra Lois Fleming, age 87, of St Johns passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 8, 2026, surrounded by her family. Myra was born November 27, 1938, in Shepherd, Michigan, daughter of Frederick and Lois (Dunn) Barber. She attended school in Merrill, graduating in the class of 1957. During high school the man who was to be the love of her life skated up and said he’d like to give her the privilege of skating with him. She refused the first time but once he changed his tone she accepted. Myra not only accepted Terry, but his faith and family as they were married on July 13, 1957, and shared 49 years of wedded bliss. Together they raised 6 ‘only’ children.
Myra was a woman of many skills. She loved sewing and fashion, gardening and yard work and sharing her faith with people of all ages. She taught religious education at Sacred Heart in Merrill, St Joseph in St. Louis and St Joseph in St Johns, where she also was director of religious education until she retired. She also shared her skills as parish librarian, bible study leader, vacation Bible school organizer and volunteer at Paine Gilliam Scott Museum. She was also a Girl Scout leader, and Saint Monica’s Guild member/officer. She enjoyed traveling with Terry to many places, especially to Denver for the Pope’s visit in 1993, and England and Paris with Terry and her sister, Dennie.
Myra was preceded in death by her husband, Terry in 2006, her parents; her siblings, Fred Barber, George Barber, Ethelyn (Dennie) Rea and Mick Barber and many beloved brothers- and sisters-in-law.
She is survived by her children Mary (Keith) Enneking, Dennis (DeeAnn) Fleming, Elizabeth (Thomas) Warren, Jill (Dale) Nelson, Fred Fleming (Jennifer Cox) and Terrilynn (Glenn) Voisin; 19 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren. Along with several in-laws, and nieces and nephews.
