Linda Lou (Williams) Schumaker

April 6, 1944 — March 7, 2018

Linda Lou (Williams) Schumaker, age 73, of Grand Rapids, formerly of Lowell, passed away on Wednesday, March 7, 2018, at Metron of Forest Hills Nursing Home under the care of Faith Hospice and her family. Linda was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan, on April 6, 1944, the daughter of George Raymond and Palma Louise (Dolphin) Williams. She attended Grand Rapids area schools and worked for 39 years at Amway Corporation in the manufacturing and distribution centers. Linda had many interests and loves in her life including music and dancing. She listened to a wide variety of music and loved to sing along with her favorite artists including Kid Rock, and Johnny Cash. On Saturday mornings for many years there was nothing that she would let interrupt the MTV Weekly Top 20 Countdown, keeping track of the results from week to week. When the spirit moved her, she would dance, no matter the location, even if she ended up on a coffee table or some other perch—and as the saying goes, she danced like no one was watching. She loved being outdoors and always had a respect for nature, conserving and recycling all that she could and picking up trash to beautify the surroundings. Her love of nature included animals, domestic and stray, all of which she would leave food out for at her door and window sill so they would frequently return for more. She enjoyed a good strong cup of coffee, only doctoring it up with cinnamon. Linda always had special treats and snacks for her own family and neighborhood children who stopped by because they knew they were always welcome. She also loved to read and was a regular at the Lowell Library. Linda was an active member of the Road Runners Social Group for many years and had many dear friendships throughout her life.

Linda will be remembered by her dear family including her children Grover Peter (Lisa Bowen) Doyle III of Kentwood, Timothy James (Ann) Schumaker of Port Huron, Daniel Joseph (Samira Mukgar) Schumaker of Kentwood and Willow Lynne (Melvin) Cramer, Jr., of Lowell; grandchildren, Christian (Tessa Engstrom) Doyle, Savannah Doyle, Noah Schumaker, Isabella Cramer, Lindsey Cramer and Samuel Cramer; great grandchildren Eli, Maddox and Rowan with another one on the way; Siblings, Raymond (Merrilee) Williams, Jamie (Charlie) Tinker-Heeringa, James Tinker, Timothy Tinker, Pamela Tinker-Wolters and Theodore Tinker; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by an infant son, Frederick Raymond Doyle and sisters, Peggy Pijor and Renee Kolk.

A Memorial Service will take place on Saturday, March 17, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Lowell with Pastor Jon Pickens officiating. The family will greet visitors at church prior to the service beginning at 10:00 a.m. and following the service during the luncheon. Those wishing to express their sympathy are welcomed to consider a donation in Linda’s memory to assist the family with final expenses.
