Lawrence M. Ellsworth

May 4, 1932 — November 19, 2024

Belding, Michigan

Lawrence Manley “Larry” Ellsworth, age 92, of Belding, passed away at Corewell Health, United Memorial Hospital in Greenville on Tuesday, November 19, 2024. He was born on May 4, 1932, in Belding, Michigan, son of Harris E. and Marjorie (Noxon) Ellsworth, both of whom preceded him in death. He graduated from Belding Area Schools and entered the Army, serving his country during the Korean War. Upon his return to Belding, he went back to work at Bricker Lumber in Belding and eventually went into partnership to buy the business. He co-owned and operated the lumber yard until his retirement in the mid 1990’s. He married Donna J. Alcumbrack, in Gowen, Michigan, on October 17, 1961, and shared 56 years of marriage with her prior to her death in 2018. Larry was an avid sports fan, tuning-in the Lions, Tigers and Michigan State games at every opportunity. He was a Life member of Belding V.F.W. Post #4406, as well as the Belding American Legion Post #203 where he would make frequent stops to check in on his friends and get the latest news. Larry will be remembered for his love of a good joke and kept his great sense of humor right up until his final days. Larry’s family would like to express their gratitude to the staff at Hathaway Hills Assisted Living Center, who made the end of his life much more enjoyable and comfortable through their care.

Memories of Larry will be cherished by his dear children Kellie (Jeff) Tallman of Belding, Richard (Lorrenda) Ellsworth of Belding and Randy (Becky) Ellsworth of Caledonia; grandchildren Josh (Katie) Adams, Sarah Ellsworth, Brooke Ellsworth, Evan DeVault, and Kara DeVault; special great grandchildren Michael Ellsworth Adams, Olivia Catherine Adams, and Elliott James Triano-Ellsworth: a brother, Wendell (Shanna) Ellsworth of Green Bay, Wisconsin; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Louis Ellsworth.
