Cory M. Town-Leary

Kourie Michael “Cory” Town-Leary, age 31, of Ionia, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, March 23, 2024. He was born on December 27, 1992, in Ionia, son of Heather M. Town and David J. Leary, both of whom survive. Cory attended Ionia Area Schools and loved sports, playing both basketball and baseball, which was his passion. He also was lucky enough to have his grandfather introduce him to Junior Drag Racing and spent as much time as he could at the track speeding down the strip. He continued playing basketball to stay fit and loved getting a new pair of sneakers.
He was a good friend to many and will be dearly missed.

The memory of Cory will be cherished by his parents, Heather (Scott) Hoy of Ionia and David J. (Megan) Leary of Ionia; his children Kylie Rose Town and Taelynn Merrifield; his siblings, Nathan R. Hoy, Alysa M. Hoy, and Riley and Brandon Leary; his grandparents, Mary (Bob) Abbott, Mike (Claire) Town, Carol Hoy and Robin (Ken Nelson) Huhn; several aunts and uncles; and many cousins.  He was preceded in death by grandparents, Pam (Gerry) Simon, James Hoy, and Harry Birt.                                                                                                                                                                                                  

Visitation and Funeral Services will take place at Verdun Family Funeral Home, on Thursday, March 28, 2024, with Visitation beginning at 12 noon and the Funeral beginning at 1:00 p.m., with Reverend David Paszkowski officiating.
