Jerry C. Osborn

Jerry Clinton Osborn, age 81, of Belding, formerly of Greenville, passed away at home on Monday, August 22, 2022, surrounded by loving family members. He was born on October 29, 1940, in Troy, Alabama. He was preceded in death by his dear parents, Clinton Joseph and Josie Mae (Strickland) Osborn. Following graduation from East Grand Rapids High School, Jerry proudly served his country in the United States Army, stationed in Korea. Following his return from the military, he worked in several capacities, much of it as a Maintenance Supervisor at LESCOA, where he worked for more than 30 years. He married Lynne Horsley on May 1, 1993, at Saranac Community Church and she survives. Jerry took great pride in a well-manicured lawn and enjoyed working with wood to make special items for family members and others. While mostly a homebody, he was always willing to venture out for a short or long-distance trip and when out and about, it was like he never met a stranger, because he would strike up a conversation with anyone he came across.

In addition to his devoted wife, Lynne, Jerry is survived by his son, David Carpentier of Cannonsburg; siblings, Cathy Carpenter, John Osborn, and Jeff (Pam) Osborn all of Grand Rapids; several brothers- and sisters-in-law and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends, and his two current, furry companions, Louie and Ginger. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Martha Pattison.

Visitation will take place on Friday, August 26, 2022, from 12:00 Noon to 2:00 p.m., with Military Honors commencing at 2:00 p.m., at Verdun Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 303 S. Bridge Street, Belding, Michigan 48809. Private interment rites will take place at Alaska Cemetery in Caledonia.
