Jeffrey Lynn "Jeff" Jourdan, age 77, of Sheridan, passed away unexpectedly at home on Saturday evening, June 6, 2026.
Born on July 20, 1948, in Grand Rapids, Michigan, to Russell Nelson and Doris (Clark) Jourdan, Jeff lived a life filled with hard work, laughter, faith, and an unwavering devotion to his family. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War and carried that same spirit of dedication, resilience, and pride throughout his life.
Jeff married the love of his life, Gayla Dawn Cain, and together they shared nearly 50 wonderful years of marriage before her passing in 2020. Their love story was the foundation of the family they built together and remained one of the greatest blessings of his life. Though he missed her deeply, the love they shared never left him.
A talented electrician, Jeff spent many years working for Extruded Metals Corporation in Belding before retiring nine years ago. He was known for his strong work ethic and remarkable ability to fix just about anything.
His faith in Christ provided him strength, comfort, and guidance throughout his life, and he lived each day with a grateful heart for the many blessings God had given him. He loved spending time with family, whether it was a fishing trip, a family gathering, a drive in the North Carolina Mountains or simply sitting together sharing stories. He had a mischievous sense of humor, loved a good practical joke, and never passed up an opportunity to make someone laugh. Jeff treasured his family. He took great pride in his daughters, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren and found his greatest joy in the time he spent with them.
Jeff is survived by his daughters, Sonya Jourdan-Baldwin (Bill Porter) of Rockford, Michigan; Tara Zuehl of Graham, North Carolina; grandchildren Michael Newcomb, Troy Baldwin (Savannah), Tyler Baldwin, Jordan Baldwin (Alyssa), and Dominic Zuehl; his 8 beloved great-grandchildren; sibling Kathy Burleson (Jimmy) of Attalla Alabama and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
In addition to his parents and beloved wife, Gayla, he was preceded in death by his sisters Patsy Byrne, Michelle Jourdan brother Steven Jourdan and son-in-law, Seth Zuehl.
Though his family is heartbroken by his passing, they find comfort in the countless memories he leaves behind, the laughter he shared so freely, and the faith that sustained him throughout his life. They take peace in knowing that Jeff's faith has become sight and that he is once again in the presence of his Savior and reunited with loved ones who have gone before him.
