Dana J. Knudson

Dana James Knudson of Benzonia, passed away unexpectedly February 2, and is now reunited with his beloved Amber. Dana was born March 21, 1977 to David and Ruth Knudson of Honor. He lived in Benzie County his entire life, and was a friend to almost everyone who knew him.

Dana was always up for anything. He had a way of making people laugh. Dana was a jokester at heart- he enjoyed bringing a little bit of humor into everything! Dana enjoyed classic cars and working on cars with his dad, and had a passion for drag racing. Dana spent time camping, grilling, and lately realized his dream of raising livestock. He loved gardening with Amber.

Dana will be remembered for his sense of humor, his curiosity, and his love for his family, as well as for his impact on those who knew him. He leaves behind memories that will continue to live on through his children and family.

Dana is preceded in death by the love of his life, Amber; his father, David, his grandparents Richard Knudson and Violet Gilroy (Paul) and Earl and Margaret Carrier, multiple uncles, aunts, and several cousins. He is survived by his mother, Ruth; his children Dravin and Botony Newton-Knudson, whom he loved dearly; his siblings Erik Knudson and Shannon Leahy (Kenneth); his nieces Sylvia Knudson and Keira Leahy; and his nephew Dominic Leahy. He also leaves behind many aunts, uncles, cousins, and good friends, as well as his faithful mastiff Dahlia.

Charitable contributions can be sent to the American Diabetes Association, in hopes of helping diabetics like Dana's son Dravin live a healthy and productive life.

A Celebration of the life and legacy of both Dana and Amber will take place on Saturday, May 2, 2026, at 3:00 PM, at the Interlochen Eagles Club, 20724 Honor Hwy., Honor, Michigan 49643.
