Cindy Lynn (Smith) Thompson, age 59, of Orleans, passed away at home early Friday morning under hospice care surrounded by her loving family following a courageous battle with cancer. She was born May 29, 1966, in Ionia, Michigan, daughter of Gary Lynn and Carol Lee (Hattis) Smith. She graduated from Belding High School with the Class of 1984 and continued her education at Montcalm Community College where she earned an Associate Degree in Medical office Billing and Cosmetology. Cindy was self-employed as a beautician for many years serving clients at Partners In Style Salon and also cared for residents at Fountainview Nursing Center in Lowell for many years. She exchanged wedding vows with Joseph Lyle Thompson in Belding on October 5, 1985. Cindy attended Shiloh Community Church for many years and in her spare time enjoyed painting, reading, sewing and jumping on her Harley Sportster for a ride with Joe as often as she could.

Cindy leaves to cherish her memory, her dear, husband of 40 years, Joseph, her parents, Gary (Sue) Smith and Carol (Eric) Lau; children Elizabeth Nicole (Aaron) Ronning of Lansing and Joseph Lyle (Lisa Ratigan) Thompson II of Belding; a granddaughter, Myka; her siblings Jerry (Yvonne) Smith, Brenda (Troy) Greer, Tim (Stacy) Smith, and Jason Bignell; her father-in-law Don (Barb) Thompson; her brothers- and sisters-in-law, Don (Renee) Thompson, Doug (Rachel) Thompson, Sherri Connor, Stacie (Ron) Clewell, and Kathy (Mike) Humes; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends; and her three special dogs, Yankee, Freyja & Thor, who will miss her dearly. Cindy was preceded in death by her mother-in-law Sharon Carter and her husband, Carroll and a brother-in-law, Troy Connor.

Cindy’s family is planning a Life Celebration to take place at a later date. Memorial donations are recommended to the Missi Nuremberg Cancer Memorial Fund.
