Christopher James “Chris” Terry, age 76, of Jersey City, New Jersey, formerly of Belding, passed away, on his birthday, under hospice care, at Jersey City Medical Center following a long illness. He was born on April 14, 1950, in Greenville, Michigan, son of Stanley J. and Marguerite (Vlahas) Terry, both of whom preceded him in death. Chris graduated from Belding High School with the Class of 1968, completed an associate’s degree at Grand Rapids Community College and continued his education at Pratt Institute in New York where he earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree. He put his education to work in the architectural field, becoming a skilled draftsman preparing building plans for many years. Chris was a history buff and even though he did not live in Belding, kept close tabs on current events and could answer many questions about the area’s history and happenings.
Chris is survived by his siblings, Mary (William) Zigmont of Lowell, Greg (Angie) Terry of Belding, Kathryn Duffield of Belding and Barb (Roger) Arnzen of Washington; several nieces & nephews and great nieces & nephews; and many cousins and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Brian Terry, and a great nephew, Klayton Jospeh Terry.
Chris’ family is planning a Celebration of Life to be held at a later date. Private Interment Rites will take place at St. Joseph Cemetery, Belding. Those wishing to express their sympathy are welcome to consider a donation in Chris’ memory to the Belding Museum.
