Charlene Mae Clements

Charlene Mae Clements, age 84, of Greenville, passed away under hospice care at Metron of Greenville Nursing Home, surrounded by her loving family on November 15, 2018. She was born on August 22, 1934, in Belding, Michigan, the daughter of Arthur and Bernice (Martin) Conklin. Charlene attended Belding Schools, and worked at several places during her lifetime, including Chrysler Motors and the Ionia K-Mart store. She also worked as an usher at Ionia Free Fair for several years. Charlene enjoyed playing B.I.N.G.O., working crossword puzzles and always gave the Daily News a thorough reading to make sure she kept up on the latest area happenings. A resident of Ionia, Belding and Greenville for her entire life she was known by many for her feisty personality and being ever-ready to help someone out with a ride to a gathering or event, making sure that no one who wanted to be there was left behind. With all of her work and activities, she always considered her primary focus her family and her home. She will be dearly missed.

Memories of Charlene will be cherished by her dear children Donald (Linda) Marsh of Belding, Rodney (Lance) Marsh of Saline and Ronda (Tony) Butler of Belding; grandchildren, Shelly, Denis, Jennifer, Jessica, Joanie, Harold, Donald, Johnny, Bryce, and Brooke; great grandchildren, Amanda, Brian, Christian, Jason, Felicia, Victoria, Ashton, Asa, Gregory, Ryley, Finley, Isabelle, Trenton, Anthony, Amanda, Genevieve, Aubreena and Beau; great-great grandchildren, Gracie and Blakely; husband, Robert L. Clements, who she married in 2009 and survives in Mesick, Michigan; a son-in-law, Harold Randall of Saranac; a daughter-in-law, Frances Marsh; siblings, Carol Ann Hansen of Wyoming, Janice (Marco) Loper of Gowen and Paul (Kay) Conklin of Orleans; and several nieces and nephews; She was preceded in death by her parents; children, Denis Marsh, Darlene Randall, Paula Tucker and Randy Marsh; and two sisters, Beverly Adams, and Donna Pretzel.

The family will host a Life Celebration gathering and service on Saturday, November 24, 2018 at Verdun Family Funeral Home, 303 S. Bridge Street, Belding, with Pastor Ken Harger officiating. The family will greet visitors beginning at 11:30 a.m. and the service will begin at 1:00 p.m. followed by a luncheon at the Belding American Legion. Private interment rites will be accorded at Easton Township Cemetery, Ionia. Those wishing to express their sympathy through a memorial donation in Charlene’s memory, are welcomed to consider the Activities Programs at Metron of Greenville.
