Amber Lynn Newton

Amber Lynn Newton, age 49, of Benzonia, Michigan, passed away at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City, Michigan following a courageous, year long battle with cancer. Surrounded by her loving family, she faced this challenge with grace and determination.

Born on September 6, 1975, in Traverse City and was a lifelong Benzie County resident. She graduated from Benzonia High School with the Class of 1994. Amber had a passion for gardening and treasured time spent with family and friends. She left this world far too soon and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Amber’s life and memory will forever be cherished by her life partner and father of her children, Dana J. Knudson; her dear mother, Ida Mae McDonald; and her beloved children, Dravin Patrick James Newton-Knudson and Botony Raylee Lynn Newton-Knudson, all of Benzonia; She is also survived by her caring sister, April Dawn Newton; mother-in-law Ruth Knudson; sister-in-law Shannon (Ken) Leahy; a brother-in-law- Erik Knudson and his daughter, Sylvia; nephew, Dominic; niece, Kiera; maternal aunts, Carol (Richard) Merrill and family, Donna Rice, and Marlene (Gary) Kukla; and many cousins including special cousin and dear friend, Stacy. She was preceded in death by her father, Patrick and her father-in-law Dave Knudson.

Amber’s family is planning a celebration of her life at a later date. Please keep them in your thoughts and prayers over the weeks ahead.
