Virginia Irene Padgett

November 16, 1943 — April 30, 2022

Virginia Irene (Lake) Padgett, age 78, of Crystal, formerly of Greenville, passed away at home under the care of her family and hospice on Saturday, April 30, 2022. She was born in Bellville, Michigan, on November 16, 1943, daughter of Lewis C. and Francis H. (Vanvlurah) Lake, both of whom preceded her in death. Virginia relocated to the Greenville, Michigan area with her family and attended school there. Always an adventurous spirit, she left home at an early age and hitch-hiked to Oklahoma to get a new start. After relocating back to Greenville, she married Theodore J. Padgett on April 23, 1966. Virginia was a survivor of many hardships. She beat breast cancer and was preceded in death by her spouse, Theodore in 1985. She lived with her devoted son, Ted Padgett. She enjoyed working with crafts of all types and working puzzles in her spare time. She had an affinity for animals and always loved the many pets that she has had including, Charlie, Mittens, Shadow, Spunky, and her current dog, Luna. She liked country music and enjoyed attending a concert of her favorite singer Loretta Lynn. Virginia passed down her fondness of Elvis Presley to her daughter, Teresa. She also collected Teddy Bears, Coca Cola memorabilia and enjoyed playing cards and Yahtzee.

She leaves her to cherish her memory, children, Debra (Terry) Mount of Edmore, Teresa Marie (Ellen Averyt) Padgett of Ypsilanti and Ted J. Padgett of Crystal; grandchildren, Andrew Mount, Vanessa Mount, Jordan Mount and Haley Mount; great grandchildren, Elizabeth and Eli; step-daughters, Sally Herd, Terri Davis and Ginny Lewis; a brother, Gordon Lake of Belding; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Virginia was preceded in death by a sister, Marie and a step-daughter. Kathy.
