Sherril Lea Meyer

October 21, 1945 — March 24, 2022

Mrs. Sherril (Sherry) Lea Meyer, age 76, loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend passed away Thursday morning, March 24, 2022 at her home with family. She was born October 21, 1945 in Lodi, Ohio to the late Lewis and Martha (Hicks) Gettings and lived in Muskegon/Fruitport for the past 46 years. Sherry worked for 30 years as an office manager/dental assistant for Brian T. Fosse, DDS. She was a natural caregiver for all, enjoyed spending time with her family, dogs and a small circle of close friends. She was fond of homemaking, bowling, casinos and instant lottery tickets. Her grandkids nicknamed her “The Queen of Shade” as she had a witty sense of humor.

SURVIVORS include Brothers, Michael (Helen) Gettings of Burtchville, Lewis (Sandy) Gettings Jr. of Davison and Sister Marty (Ron) Evans of Redfield, Ark. Daughters Sonya (Mike) Burns of Fruitport, Valarie (Eric) Shelby of Fruitport; 9 grandchildren, Lacey (Cain) Schaut, Brooke Schaut, Derrick Burns, Blair Thompson, Jay Thompson, Lajla Pervan, Jasmine Young, Samantha Nesbitt and Kaleigh Nesbitt. Great Grandchildren Kaydence Walls, RJ Johnson, Jayce Johnson and Kinsley Burns. Nieces and nephews, Bill (Trea) Gettings, Kasha (Kevin) Smith, Taylor Gettings, Jordon (Kayla) Gettings, Cory (Erin) Gettings, Mandy (Andrew) Schod, Ben Pintoski, brother-in-law, Howard (Sharon) Meyer and many great nieces and nephews.
Sherry was preceded in death by her husband, Harold “Butch” Meyer and her parents, Lewis and Martha Gettings.

In accordance with Sherry’s wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral services, however, there will be a celebration of life gathering this summer. Sherry supported many non-profits including Noah’s Project, St. Jude, Hospice and many veteran organizations. In memory of Sherry, you are invited to donate to these organizations.
