Pauline Louise (Fleser) Ackley

October 20, 1943 — January 22, 2018

Pauline Louise (Fleser) Ackley, age 74, of Belding, went home to her Lord on Monday, January 22, 2018. She was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan, on October 20, 1943 the daughter of Wallace F. and Mary Ann (Rodanhisler) Fleser, and relocated with her family to Gowen, Michigan as a child. She attended Greenville Area Schools graduating from Greenville High School with the Class of 1961. She married Orville Ackley on August 18, 1962, and shared 55 years of marriage with him. Pauline loved flowers and kept a beautiful garden each year, she also knitted and made many special items for her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed singing and performed with the Sweet Adelines in Grand Rapids for several years. Pauline loved to cook and host family gatherings taking care of the many details. She was a generous and selfless caregiver for anyone in need. Her caring nature extended outside the home as well, volunteering for many events and activities and at the food pantry at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Belding, where she was a member for many years.

Pauline was preceded in death by her son, Markus Gregory Ackley in 2000, her parents, Wallace and Mary Ann, and a brother Roger Fleser.

She leaves a loving family to cherish her memory including her devoted husband, Orville, three daughters Doreen (Thad) Jones, Deborah (Chris) Brewer and Daphne (Jeff) Eastman; a daughter-in-law Noreen Ackley; her grandchildren, Anthony, Casey, Bryce, Jessica (Rod), Brenden, Aubrey (Oscar Soriano), Alexander, Caleb, Cydney and Cara; her great-grandchildren Mia and Mavis; her siblings, Wallace (Toni) Fleser, Jr., Kathleen (Donald) King and Marcia (Darwin) Taft; and a sister-in-law Sheryl Fleser.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 25, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Verdun Family Funeral Home, 303 S. Bridge St., Belding, Michigan. A Vigil Service will take place at 7:00 p.m. at the conclusion of the visiting hours. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday at 11:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 403 S. Bridge St, Belding, with Fr. Jim Wyse the Celebrant. Visitation will also take place prior to Mass at the Church on Friday beginning at 10:00 a.m. Memorial contributions are recommended to St. Joseph Catholic Church.
