Michael Wayne "Mike" Young

Michael Wayne “Mike” Young, age 70, of Evart, Michigan and Lakeland, Florida, passed away, unexpectedly, early Tuesday morning, October 15, 2019, at Sparrow Ionia Hospital in Ionia, Michigan. He was born on August 27, 1949 in Garden City, Michigan, the son of William Charles and Colleen Virginia (McClellan) Young, both of whom preceded him in death. He attended Evart, Michigan, schools, then served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He worked in several capacities during his lifetime, but truck driving was his passion. He loved the open road, whether it was in his truck or on his Harley Davidson trike. When at home, he loved watching NASCAR, daytime television shows and M*A*S*H* television marathons. He was a fan of great food whether he was on the road or at home. In his retirement over the past several years, he had enjoyed becoming a snowbird, splitting his time between Florida and Michigan. Although never having considered himself a “dog person” he took on a Pit Bull, who he named “Bossman” and the two became great friends, traveling together and relating to each other almost like a father and son.



He is survived by children, Jeff Judd of Mount Morris, Bronson Dellar of Evart, Terry Moore of Munger, Thomas (Angie Ashby) Young of Cadillac, Holly Willis of Nokomis, Florida and Shantell Marie Young of Lansing; grandchildren, Laurissa, Shannon, Michael, Carmen Emily, Hayli and Ashley Anne; his prior wife and life-long friend, Dawn Bradley of Ionia; a brother, Charles Young of Lansing; and several additional grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a daughter, Jodi.
