Maryann S. Reeves

Maryann Sue (VanOcker) Reeves, age 79, of Belding, went home to be with her Lord, on Monday, March 6, 2023. She was born September 3, 1943, in Keene Twp., Michigan, daughter of Theodore and Nina (Compton) VanOcker.

On June 5, 1965, Maryann married Frederick Reeves and he preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her parents and six siblings. Maryann is survived and will be dearly missed by her children, Jason E. Reeves of Belding and Jane A. (Aaron) Gleason of Belding; Brandee Harger of Gladstone, Michigan; grandchildren, Cody Michael Reeves, Matthew Glen Gleason, Ashton Lee Mead, and Isabelle Ruthanne Houseman-Harger, sister-in-law, Eula Grace Blanding of Auburn, Maine; and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, great-great nieces and nephews, cousins and close family friends.

Maryann graduated from Lowell High School. She worked at General Motors, where she was a member of the Women’s Committee, retiring after 33 years. After retiring she worked at Leppink’s in Belding. She was a member of Smyrna Bible Church, the Smyrna Social Club, and the Flat River Auto Club. She loved growing African Violets and collecting turtles and butterflies.

Visitation will take place on Monday from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm at Verdun Family Funeral Home, 303 S. Bridge Street, Belding, Michigan. Funeral service will be held Tuesday, March 14 at 11:00 am at Smyrna Bible Church with Pastor Roger Tahtinen officiating. Interment will be at Otisco Township Cemetery following the luncheon. Those wishing to express sympathy through a donation are welcome to consider the Smyrna Bible Church or the Smyrna Social Club.
