Kenneth Lavern Howe

d. October 17, 2019

Kenneth LaVern Howe, age 89, of Belding, passed away at home on Thursday, October 17, under the care of his family and hospice. He was born in Owosso, Michigan, the son of Orville Eugene and Florence Ruth (Yoder) Howe, both of whom preceded him in death. Ken attended Owosso schools and entered the United States Army to serve during the Korean War. He served valiantly, as evidenced by being awarded a Purple Heart, and enjoyed sharing many stories of his time in service to his country. Shortly after his release from the service, he married Evelyn Buck on April 26, 1952. She preceded him in death on January 5, 2015, after 62 years of marriage. The couple lived near Evelyn’s family in Illinois for a time and then relocated to Belding, Michigan for work and raised their family there. He worked in several capacities during his lifetime, including factory work, driving a school bus for many years and twenty-six years as a truck driver, including moving families all over the country with Allied Van Lines. He was an active member of the Sheridan VFW and Belding VFW and enjoyed caring for the family home and watching television, while observing the day go by outside the picture window to his yard.

Kenneth leaves to cherish his memory, his children, Cynthia Lou Howe, Suzanne Marie Howe, Bruce (Sheryl) Howe, Kenneth R. (Jodie) Howe and John Paul (Lisa) Howe; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; and a sister, Katie Losey of Venice, Florida. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Paula Sue Howe; and siblings, Barb Crandell, Bonita Moser, Marlin Howe and Orville Howe.
