Gerald "Jerry" Stewart Patton

Gerald Stewart “Jerry” Patton, age 80, of Belding, formerly of Lowell and Howell, entered into eternity on Sunday evening, June 27, 2021, at Spectrum Health – Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids, following a battle with cancer. He was born in Streator, Illinois, on November 14, 1940, one of four sons to Lyle Robert and Fleeta Verlinda (Marshall) Patton, both of whom preceded him in death. Jerry graduated from Muskegon high school and continued his studies at Muskegon Community College. He worked for a time in a bakery prior to getting into his life-long career in insurance sales. He worked for an agency in Howell for many years prioe to purchasing an agency in Lowell. He owned and operated the Patton, JRB Agency for a number of years prior to his retirement. He was a faithful member of Family Life Center Church of God. During his working years he was active in community volunteerism, was a member of the Lowell Rotary and the Lowell Masonic Lodge, serving as its President for several years. He and his wife, Ruth moved to Belding in Retirement.

Jerry’s family will cherish the memories of him, including his dear wife Ruth, whom he married on December 31, 1992, in Lowell; his children Randall (Kari) Patton of Alto, Edmond C. (Valerie) Patton of Colorado and Bryan (Karin) Patton of Switzerland; grandchildren, Rebecca, Kaylin, Elijah and Caelan Patton; his former wife and mother of his children, Beverly “Jean” Patton; step-children Laura Rayes, Michael Merritt and Sheila Warning; several step grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his three brothers, Lyle, Jim and Ronald Patton.

Jerry’s family is planning a gathering to celebrate his life, which will be held on Friday, July 23, 2021, at Family Life Center Church of God, north of Belding on M-91. The service will begin at 6:30.
