Fred Marion Clark

January 19, 1930 — February 1, 2017

Fred Marion Clark, age 87, of Belding, passed away at Advocare Assisted Living Center, near Belding, on Wednesday, February 1, 2017, under the care of hospice and his family. He was born on January 19, 1930, in Sidney, Michigan, the son of Charlie M. and Minnie (Petersen) Clark, both of whom preceded him in death. He graduated from Belding Area Schools, and after high school, served as a volunteer in the Army for two years and was later drafted and served in the Air Force for four years during the Korean War. After his military service, he worked for Extruded Metals Corporation and Mueller Brass retiring with more than 35 years of service, and was a member of the American Legion. Fred worked hard, but enjoyed his spare time in gardening, mushroom hunting and watching Tigers baseball. He also loved to travel and took may trips to Northern Michigan, Virginia and the Carolina’s. He loved to visit with family and friends.

Fred leaves to cherish his memory his dear children, Fred N. (Janet) Clark of Belding and Mark Steven (Lisa Peters) Clark of Fenwick; grandchildren, Fred John Clark, Matthew Steven Clark, Amber (Allen Flanigan) Carlson, Megon (Chris) Meinke, Brady Badder and Nicholas Badder; great grandchildren, Wyatt Clark, Owen Meinke, Mya Meinke and Ava Meinke; a sister-in-law, Evelyn; a special friend and companion of many years, Virginia Lay; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Renee M. Clark and three brothers, Charlie, James and Leonard, and a sister, Ruth.

Visitation will take place on Friday, February 3, from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at Verdun Family Funeral Home, 303 S. Bridge Street, Belding. Fred’s Funeral Service will take place at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 4, at the funeral home with Pastor William Overton officiating. Burial will take place at Orleans Cemetery in the spring. Those planning an expression of sympathy are welcome to consider a contribution in Fred’s memory to the Alzheimer’s Association.
