Clifford R. Airhart, Jr.

Clifford Raymond Airhart, Jr., age 77, of Belding, passed away Thursday, June 23, 2022, at Spectrum Health, Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids, following a brief stay there. Clifford was born on October 11, 1944, in Massillon, Ohio, son of Clifford Raymond and Hazel Mae (Young) Airhart, Sr., both of whom preceded him in death. He graduated from Navarre, Ohio High School and then entered the military to serve his country in the United States Air Force. While Clifford worked in several capacities during his lifetime, he spent most of his time as a baker. He made countless cakes and other sweets for several differently employers through the years. He married Lola J. Marsh and shared six years of marriage with her prior to her death in 2019. Clifford and Lola enjoyed many trips and travels to Kentucky, Tennessee and other places to see sights such as the Graceland Estate and the replica of Noah’s Ark.

Memories of Clifford will be cherished by his son, Clifford R. (Gina) Airhart III, of Castaic, California, and his daughter Emily Erika Airhart of Westland, Michigan; grandchildren Andrew and Matthew Airhart, Alyshia and Nick Dyer; Lola’s family including daughters, Leanna R. (Dave) Coston, Melanie A. (Mike) Howard and Theresa J. (Eric) Nielson all of Belding; grandchildren, Kayce (Charlie), David (Niccole), Danielle (Chris), Kristin, Todd (Lindsay), Kattie (Kelly), Erika (Kyle) and Brandon (Carissa); great grandchildren, Aidan, Dominic, Damon, Madalynn, Gabrielle, Roran, Donald, Makarah, Jaspyr, Kolt, Brock, .

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, July 16, 2022, at Verdun Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 303 S. Bridge Street, Belding. The family will greet visitors beginning at 10:00 a.m., and the service will begin at 11:00 a.m., with Fr. Jim Wyse the officiant. Military Honors will also be accorded. Private interment rites are being planned at Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly, Michigan.
