Carl Vernon Sizemore

Carl Vernon Sizemore, age 76, of Belding, passed away unexpectedly at Spectrum Health, United Hospital in Greenville, on Tuesday, November 15, 2022. He was born in Mancelona, Michigan, son of Lloyd L. and Rita (Kiel) Sizemore, both of whom preceded him in death. He attended Mancelona Schools and over the years became a skilled Machinist, working at several manufacturing facilities including Yamaha motorcycles, retiring to Belding about 20 years ago. Carl exchanged vows with Sylvia Kay Porter on April 14, 1972, celebrating 50 years of marriage this past April. He was an avid deer hunter and ventured out to bag a prize buck every year. He loved to spend time in his shop working on projects and fixing anything that needed mending. Carl was helpful by nature and would assist anyone who needed a hand. In his younger years he was a successful horse trainer, preparing thoroughbred horses for the racetrack. Carl will be deeply missed by his family and friends

Carl leaves to cherish his memory, his dear wife, Sylvia, whom he loved and faithfully cared for; his children Michael Hamblin of Greenville, South Carolina, Michael (Rhonda) Nelson of Fairport Harbor, Ohio, Carrie (Jeffrey) Jay of Muskegon, Carl (Heather) Sizemore Jr., of Ionia and Robert (Alicia Hill) Sizemore of Belding; grandchildren Danielle Nelson, Sara Nelson, Christopher Zatalokin, Becky Nelson, Jennifer Willett, Darieck Reickman, Alyssa Rieckman, Juliet Sizemore and Fiona Sizemore; siblings, Grace Curry, Sue Root, Dennis Sizemore, Steve Sizemore and Robert Sizemore; and several brothers- and sisters-in-law and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Ronald Sizemore and Dale Sizemore.

Carl’s body has been donated to the University of Michigan and his family is planning remembrance services for a future date. Those planning an expression of sympathy are welcome to consider a contribution in Carl’s memory to The American Heart Association or St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
