Betty Lou Stoakes (Manley) Trombetta

March 16, 1934 — August 17, 2018

Betty Lou Stoakes (Manley) Trombetta, age 84, of Carson City, formerly of Ionia, passed away early Friday Morning, August 17, at Laurels of Carson City following a long stay there. Betty was born on March 16, 1934 in Detroit, Michigan, the daughter of Donald Bernard and Lucille Agnes (Kehring) Stoakes, both of whom preceded her in death. She attended Detroit schools and continued her education at Mercy College of Nursing and completed coursework and training to become a Registered Nurse. She married Arlo Manley with whom she started her family. She later married Frank Trombetta who preceded her in death. Betty was a career nurse and worked in several different capacities providing care to patients in the hospital, both inpatient and emergency room settings, nursing homes and private duty/home health environments, and served as a nurse in the Ionia School system for several years. Betty was accomplished in knitting and sewing. She enjoyed it and was very good at it, making clothes for the children and for her husband and was able to knit any project she attempted, no matter how difficult the pattern.

Betty will be dearly missed by her children Peter Manley of Grand Ledge, Beth (Steven) Reynolds of Orleans, Patty (Glenn) Parkinson, Sr., of Clark Lake and Mike (Michelle) Manley of Ionia; grandchildren Alex Reynolds, Glenn Parkinson, Jr., Anna Parkinson and Caitlin Manley; and a sister, Patricia Weiner. In addition to her parents and husband, Betty was preceded in death by two brothers, Edward Stoakes and Charles Stoakes.

Private family Graveside Services will take place at Balcom Cemetery south of Ionia.
