Mary E. McMeeken, age 77, of Belding, passed away on Sunday, January 22, at Spectrum Health – Butterworth Campus in Grand Rapids following a long illness. She was born in San Francisco, California, on July 29, 1934, the daughter of Thomas and Mary (Elbert) Moore. Mary graduated from St. Anthony High School in 1953. She relocated to Michigan with her husband in the 1960’s and has lived in and around Belding ever since. Mary worked for Electrolux for many years and enjoyed crocheting as a pastime. She enjoyed playing cards and socializing as well.
Mary is survived by her children Deb (Michael) Johnson of Billings, Montana, Dan (Sheila) McMeeken of Edgewood, Maryland, Craig (Lori) McMeeken of Gowen, Theresa (Bob) Chenoweth-Slyh of Kentwood, Agnes McMeeken of Milwaukee, Wisconsin and Sam (Tammy) McMeeken of Orleans; 19 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; a sister Kathleen Moore of San Leandro, California; 2 nieces, a nephew; several cousins and a dear friend Bernice Jones. She was preceded in death by her parents Thomas and Mary; a son Vincent; and a sister Sheila Foley.
A Graveside Committal Service will take place on Thursday, January 26 at 3:00 p.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, (Bridge Street ˝ Mile south of M-44), Belding, with Fr. Phil Shangraw officiating.
