Marilyn Gay (Lake) Chickering, 68, of Rockford died Saturday evening, December 20, in Lowell.  She was born December 20, 1940 in Greenville, daughter of Ada Jeanette “Peggy” (Brown) and Clarence Lake. As an active member of the class of 1959, Marilyn graduated from Belding High School. She cherished those close to her and was a loving and devoted sister, daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, niece, aunt, cousin and friend. She attended Shiloh Community Church and was a member of the American Legion Belding Post 203.  She held many different jobs throughout her lifetime, most recently working 19 years as a sewing machine operator for General Motors Corporation, and she retired from Leer in 2001.

 

Marilyn leaves behind her husband of 16 years, Tom; father Clarence Lake of Greenville; children Ron Robinson II of Grand Rapids, Tim (Kathy) Robinson of Ionia, Chris (Beth) Robinson of Lowell and Jill (Eric) Olsen of Ada; step children Tammy (Greg) Kneil of Lake Odessa, Darcy (Brian) O’Hara of Cedar Springs, Christopher Chickering of Grand Rapids; step daughter-in-law Shannon Chickering of Saranac; brothers Dan (Eva Mae) Lake of Belding, Tom Lake of Delton and Steve Lake of Elkhart, IN; 11 grandchildren, 6 step grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild; and many more dear family members and friends.

 

Marilyn was preceded in death by her beloved twin sister, Carolyn Donovan, brother-in-law Jim Donovan; mother Peggy and stepson Aaron Chickering.

 

Visitation will be held at Verdun Family Funeral Home, 303 S. Bridge Street, Belding, on Friday, December 26th from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8p.m.  Pastor Ken Harger will officiate the funeral service on Saturday, December 27th, 11 a.m. at Shiloh Community Church in Orleans.  Visitation will precede the service on Saturday at the church from 10-11 a.m.   Private interment will take place at Ashley Cemetery near Grattan.
