Dolores Irene “Dolly” (Zoppa) Bruff, age 81, of Belding, passed away on Sunday, May 1st, at Spectrum Health – United Memorial Hospital in Greenville. She was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan on October 14, 1929, the 16th child of Joseph and Alice (Smikowski) Zoppa. She married Robert H. Bruff on July 26, 1952 and the couple shared 39 years of marriage prior to his death in 1991. Dolores was a talented musician who could play any instrument with keys, her favorite being the accordion. She was also a gifted artist, a great dancer and fun to be around. She worked for 29 years at Alof’s Manufacturing, was a long term member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary in Belding where she loved to play euchre. Her love of family was paramount in her life and her favorite pastimes were family visits and fishing.
Dolores’ memory will be cherished by many dear friends and her family including children Robert (Peggy) Bruff, Edward (Julie) Bruff, Randy (Shannon) Bruff and Brenda (Andy) Barger; 7 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; siblings Al (Marion) Zoppa and Leona Belka; sisters-in-law Mary Ann Zoppa, Helen Zoppa, Betty (Russell) Ross and Barb (Boyd) Myers; a brother-in-law Richard (Linda) Bruff. In addition to her husband, Dolores was preceded in death by her parents and 13 siblings.
A Memorial Service will take place on Thursday, May 5 at 1:00 p.m. at Verdun family Funeral Home, 303 S. Bridge Street, Belding, Michigan 48809, with Pastor Ken Harger officiating. The family will greet visitors prior to the service from 12 noon until 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Those wishing to express their sympathy are welcomed to consider a memorial contribution in Dolores’ memory to the Ionia County Commission on Aging.
